NopeCHA & Reporting URL-s

Hi everybody, This is kinda off topic.

When processing URL reports using the Google Safe browsing Report Utility, we use NopeCHA to automatically solve Captchas. I’m keen to hear if you think it’s moral. Should we continue to use it?

I appreciate your advice.

I think the official alternative is the Web Risk Submission API but if you do more than 100 submissions per month it’s $2 per report!

If you’re submitting good data then I don’t think it’s immoral :man_shrugging:t2:

We actually check our URL-s in the list before reporting. This can make our team a bit slower.

Yes, We agree on the morality part. If you are bombarding them with data, that is of “undesirable” quality then you should take your sweet time filling in the captchas.

We considered the API, however it seems undesirable. As our Automated System doesn’t support API-s at this time, and we would rather not try to fix something which works 乁[ ◕ ᴥ ◕ ]ㄏ

when i report on google safe browsing, it usually just takes one click and im done

sometimes, you will need to solve an extra “minigame”, but for me, thats pretty rare currently

We get those captcha challenges regularly as we connected to a VPN.
They are annoying.
